1. glazb. koji ima neka tipična svojstva jazz-glazbe (dirty tones i sl.)
2. u složenicama označava a. koji je doveden do usijanja; ugrijan, vruć, zagrijan b. pren. koji izaziva pozornost, koji je nekonforman; koji je izašao iz okvira; lud, mahnit, neobuzdan, neograničen
SINTAGMA
hot-jazz (izg. hot džȅz) glazb. vrsta jazz-glazbe (osobito naglašen ritam, improvizacija, čisti tonovi se izvode kao »polutonovi«);
hot line (izg. hot lȃjn) publ. žarg. 1. direktna telefonska linija kojom se državnici koriste u vrijeme mogućih kriza; vrući telefon, crveni telefon 2. telefonska linija kojom se šalju lascivne poruke, seks preko telefona;
hot money (izg. hot mȁni) 1. »vrući novac«, novčani kapital koji se naglo, ali privremeno prebacuje u inozemstvo da bi se izbjegle posljedice devalvacije u vlastitoj zemlji ili ostvarile kamate više od domaćih 2. pren. novac sumnjiva podrijetla (uglavnom od kriminalnih pothvata gangsterskih udruženja) koji se ne može odmah upotrijebiti u zakonitim poslovima, već se prvo mora »oprati« kroz nizove fiktivnih tvrtki;
hot pants (izg. hot pȅnts) vrlo kratke hlačice od materijala koji se pripija uz tijelo, vruće hlačice (ženski modni krik s kraja 1970-ih)
